Briolette Necklace and Earrings Using Gemstones
TOOLS NEEDED
Bent-nose chain pliers

Chain pliers

Round-nose pliers

Thread scissors

Wire cutters
MATERIALS NEEDED
Sterling silver hook & eye
crimping clasp

24-gauge wire

Suede

Turkish silver beads

Briolette gemstones

Bali silver earring posts
Step 1
a) Cut 4" (this length fits all
briolette sizes) of 24-gauge
wire.
b) String and center a
briolette on the wire.
Step 2
Pinch both wires at the top
of the briolette to form the
shape of a triangle.
Step 3
Confirm that the briolette is
centered inside the triangle.
Step 4
Cut one wire 1/8" from the
top of the wire triangle.
Step 5
a) Using the needle-nose
chain pliers grab both wires
above the triangle.
b)Bend the longer wire into
a right angle.
Step 6
a) Switch to round-nose
pliers.
b) Place the tips of the
round-nose pliers above and
below the longer wire at the
right angle.
Step 7
Bring the end of the wire up
and over the plier to form a
loop.
Step 8
Center the loop above the
briolette.
Step 9
Starting at the base of the
loop, begin wrapping the
longer wire in the space
between the loop and top of
the wire triangle.
Step 10
a) Using the wire cutters,
clip off excess wire.
b) Using the bent-nose chain
pliers, press down the end of
the wire so it isn't sharp.
Step 11
a) Use the thread scissors to
taper both ends of the suede.
b) Confirm that the suede
fits into the wire-wrap loops
and bead holes.         
Step 12
String on the Turkish beads
alternating with the
wire-wrapped briolettes.
Step 13
a) Fit the clasp onto the end
of the suede.
b) Use the chain pliers to
flatten the clasp crimp.
Did you know
you can easily make a pair
of matching earrings?Attach
the ear wire bettwen step 8
and 9.
Continue with steps 9 and
10 to finish the earring.
